Aon confirms consideration to acquire Willis Towers Watson

Insurance and reinsurance broker Aon has confirmed that it is in the initial stages of considering an offer to acquire Willis Towers Watson (WTW).

Reports emerged yesterday that Aon had held preliminary talks with WTW over a potential deal that would see the combination of two of the world’s largest re/insurance brokerages.

Aon has now confirmed that it is in the “early stages of considering an all-share business combination” with WTW.

The broker stresses that while it is considering an offer, its evaluation of a potential deal with WTW remains at a preliminary stage, adding that there is no certainty that any transaction will occur, nor as to the form of terms on which any deal might be pursued.

Aon states that a further announcement on any potential deal will be made in due course, as appropriate.
